Discussion

The Boston Braves were originally established in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings, and are the oldest continuously operating franchise in Major League Baseball.  The team was renamed the Boston Braves in 1912, winning the 1914 "Miracle" World Series before moving to Milwaukee in 1953 due to poor attendance and financial struggles. Key eras included the 1948 NL pennant and the 1914 World Series title.   The team eventually moved to Atlanta in 1966.

The Boston Red Sox were originally founded in 1901 (30 years after the Braves) as the Boston Americans.   The team officially adopted the name “Red Sox” in 1908 and moved to Fenway Park in 1912.
